VAPERS VOICES

Many adult South Africans have used vaping as a method to help them quit smoking and practice tobacco harm reduction.
Since the very beginning, VSML has invited people to share their experiences and what this innovation means to them.
Their stories should not be ignored.

3 Years ago I had to undergo a couple of ECG’s, blood tests and a heart specialist visit. With a high cholesterol level and a heart condition both GP and Specialist told me that I had a choice: Keep on smoking and don’t see the end of 5 years or quit smoking and stand a chance of a longer healthier life. Having smoked for 25 years and trying vaping to no success I then made the choice to quit smoking and go on vaping. 3 years in and I can say that I went from weekly serious heart palpitations to experiencing mild to low and manageable cases once in 4 months. I shall never go back to smoking again and can honestly say that vaping saved my life!

I started vaping in April. 2016, my lung capacity was about 50% and I just had enough smelling like a veld fire. October 2017 I was diagnosed with lung cancer and had to tor chemotherapy. My lung capacity was at almost 90% then. July 2019 I was diagnosed with vertebrae and lung cancer, vaped through the whole ordeal and I’m currently in remission. I don’t think I would’ve survived if I was still smoking norm cigarettes Vaping REALLY saved my life!

I tried vaping before but had a hard time going over as my mind set wasn’t there yet. I smoked 15+ years, smoked about 40-60 smokes a day. I started vaping March 2020 for 3 months, smoked again while vaping but have completely gone over for about 2-3 months now. My daughter is very happy since I stopped as she always wanted me to stop. I can smell and taste things better now. My chest even feels better since vaping. I sleep better. I just feel so much better in general.
